Hello Students and Parents!
My name is Mr. Sholl and this is my website where you will find a lot of helpful information and resources for my 5th and 6th grade band classes. For parents, here is some information you need to know if you are interested in signing up your child for band:
1. Band is a fun and rewarding class, but can be challenging and requires a large commitment on the student's part- parent support is crucial for student success. This includes providing time and space for students to practice their instruments at home and helping them remember to bring their instrument, music, and pencil to every band class.
2. Students will be expected to play their instruments 200 minutes a week. Half of that time will be when we have class, the remaining time will be home practice. If a student is absent or forgets their instrument for class, they will need to make up the time with extra practice at home.
3. Students earn an academic grade for this class- these are calculated through scores from monthly playing tests and performing in concerts.
4. NEW for 5th Grade: Once enrolled, students will need to be in band for the entire year. Students will not have the option to change music classes midyear.
